[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The new webtoon "Jonjae" by writer Gwangjin, who presented "Itaewon Class," will be released on the 21st on Kakao Webtoon and Kakao Page. The illustrations are by Kim Kyungjun, the artist behind the webtoon "Trouble."
The webtoon depicts the story of the protagonist, who has undergone reincarnation through countless creatures since the beginning of time, born in a family in Seoul during the 1950s-1960s, and entangled with agents from the Central Intelligence Agency who pursue his abilities.
Writer Gwangjin said, "I wanted to highlight important aspects we are missing in this rapidly developing era from the perspective of Jain, a being who has experienced the lives of countless creatures through reincarnation," adding, "In my own view, this is the most interesting comic I have drawn so far, so my expectations are even higher."
Hwang Hyunsoo, CEO of Kakao Entertainment Story Division, said, "Like 'Itaewon Class,' which swept the global market as a Kakao Entertainment super IP, we expect the webtoon 'Jonjae,' which combines excellent storytelling, artwork, and fantasy elements, to receive great love," and added, "Based on Kakao Entertainment's IP business know-how, we will strive to establish 'Jonjae' as a super IP once again."
