[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City in Gyeongnam is recruiting participants for the ‘Jinju-type 3rd Public Job Program’.
The city explained that the program aims to provide temporary jobs to citizens facing economic difficulties due to unemployment or business closures, and to offer employment experience to older youth who are unemployed, thereby promoting livelihood stability.
Following the provision of the Jinju-type 2nd Public Job Program from May to August for three months, the city will again offer jobs to a total of 700 people: 12 for life quarantine, 235 for administrative assistance, 437 for environmental maintenance, and 16 for other roles.
The recruitment period is from the 22nd to the 26th of this month. Eligible applicants are those aged 18 to under 65 at the start of the program, with the ability to work, including those who have experienced unemployment or business closure due to COVID-19, vulnerable employment groups, those on leave, unpaid leave, or Jinju citizens in need of livelihood support due to the local economic downturn.
Citizens wishing to participate should prepare their ID and documents and apply at their local eup/myeon office or dong administrative welfare center. Applicants must carefully check the announcement for restrictions on participation, such as those already involved in other public job programs, recipients of unemployment benefits, families of public officials, and recipients of public pensions.
Selected participants will work from September 19 to December 20, working 4 to 6 hours per day depending on the job type. Wages include an hourly rate of 9,160 KRW, a daily incidental expense of 5,000 KRW (for transportation and snacks), and additional weekly holiday and annual leave allowances.
A city official stated, “This program is conducted to provide temporary jobs to the unemployed or vulnerable groups without regular income to support their livelihood and to revitalize the local economy. We hope it will help vulnerable groups struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation to recover their daily lives.”
