Gwangju Nam-gu Launches Smart Shared Parking Platform Service

Gwangju Nam-gu Launches Smart Shared Parking Platform Service

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will officially provide a smart shared parking platform service that offers real-time parking status information for 45 public and private parking lots within the district.

On the 19th, Nam-gu announced, "To enhance residents' convenience and resolve issues related to illegal parking, we have completed the establishment of the 'Nam-gu Parking Information Guide' smart shared parking platform, which provides parking status information linking public and private sectors through a mobile app."

The parking status information service is conducted through AI-based cameras or sensors, displaying the number of available spaces per parking lot or providing real-time photos of available parking spaces via the mobile app.

Accordingly, residents within the district as well as visitors to Nam-gu can install the 'Nam-gu Parking Information Guide' app on their smartphones to check in real-time the parking status, fee information, and locations of a total of 45 parking lots, including 36 public parking lots and 9 private parking lots, with a total of 2,129 parking spaces.

Additionally, by clicking on the destination parking lot within the app, users can automatically link to navigation services such as 'T map' for route guidance.

Along with this, Nam-gu supported the installation of access controllers at 8 private parking lots to encourage participation in shared parking during idle times, enhancing user convenience by enabling the use of vacant parking spaces through a reservation service.

When reserving an available space in a private shared parking lot in advance, vehicle number recognition technology and barrier operation functions are activated, allowing applicants to park their vehicles in the vacant space within 30 minutes.

However, if parking is not completed within 30 minutes, the reservation is automatically canceled.

Furthermore, to prevent infringement of disabled parking spaces, speakers and electronic display boards indicating that the parking space is designated for disabled vehicles have been installed, and a system that conducts on-site one-stop enforcement against violating vehicles is also in operation.

A Nam-gu official stated, "We will do our best to provide shared parking platform services so that residents' quality of life can be improved through the provision of shared parking services utilizing advanced technology."
