[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, is accepting nominations for candidates to receive the ‘2022 Jeongeup Citizen’s Award’ at the 28th Jeongeup Citizen’s Day ceremony.

According to the city on the 19th, the Jeongeup Citizen’s Award is the highest honor in Jeongeup, awarded annually in the name of Jeongeup citizens based on the ‘Jeongeup Citizen’s Award Ordinance’ through a selection process.

The city plans to select awardees who have promoted Jeongeup’s honor domestically and internationally and who have dedicated themselves to the development of city administration through exceptional passion and effort, including citizens and those originally from Jeongeup.

The purpose is to recognize the hard work of citizens who have greatly contributed to the stability and development of the local community and enhanced the city’s honor, thereby raising pride in being a Jeongeup citizen.

The award categories include Culture Award, Saemaeul Award, Industry Award, Public Interest Award, Sports Award, Patriotism Award, Filial Piety Award, Honorary Citizen Award, and Agriculture Award, totaling nine categories.

Nominees must have made significant contributions to the development of city administration and have resided in Jeongeup with an address for at least three years as of the nomination date.

However, the Patriotism Award and Honorary Citizen Award are exempt from the address and residency requirements.

Eligible nominators include heads of institutions at the city level, heads of social organizations in the relevant fields, heads of eup, myeon, and dong offices, school principals, company representatives, heads of hometown associations, and heads of departments and offices.

The application period is until the 14th of next month, and applications can be submitted by visiting the General Affairs Division of City Hall, the relevant eup and myeon offices, or the dong community service centers.

The city will conduct thorough on-site fact-finding investigations of applicants and select awardees in each category through a strict review by the Jeongeup Citizen’s Award Screening Committee, with awards presented at the upcoming ‘Jeongeup Citizen’s Day’ ceremony.

Mayor Lee Hak-su said, “We ask for the citizens’ interest and many recommendations so that we can find and honor the unsung heroes who have dedicated and served in their respective positions for the stability and development of the local community.”
