[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] A public opinion poll revealed that the gap in support rates between candidate Lee Jae-myung and candidate Park Yong-jin is only 8.5 percentage points in the Democratic Party leadership race, which has become a two-way contest following candidate Kang Hoon-sik's withdrawal. This poll is quite different from the Democratic Party leadership race, where candidate Lee is overwhelmingly dominant with an 8:2 ratio. However, even in this poll, candidate Lee was found to be significantly ahead among Democratic Party supporters.

According to a poll conducted by Media Tomato commissioned by News Tomato (surveyed nationwide among 1,086 adults aged 18 and over via wireless ARS over two days from the 16th to 17th), when asked who is suitable as the next Democratic Party leader, candidate Lee received 49.7%, and candidate Park received 41.2%.

In the two-week rights party member tour voting, candidate Lee has so far secured 78.65% of the rights party member votes. Candidate Park's vote share was only 21.35%. In the first national public opinion poll, candidate Lee received 82.45%, and candidate Park received 17.55%. The first national public opinion poll applied a reverse selection prevention clause, limiting participation to Democratic Party supporters and independents. This suggests that the gap in public support rates may differ if the poll targets the general public as a whole.

In the Media Tomato poll, when limiting the survey subjects to Democratic Party supporters, 83.1% responded that candidate Lee is suitable as party leader, while candidate Park received only 13.2%.

In the party support rate survey, the Democratic Party received 50.2%, leading the People Power Party, which received 33.9%. Compared to last week's survey, the Democratic Party's support rate rose by 1.5 percentage points, and the People Power Party's support rate increased by 1.4 percentage points.

The margin of error for this poll is ±3.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level. For detailed survey methodology and results, please refer to the Central Election Poll Deliberation Commission website.
