Gyeonggi Office of Education Conducts Intensive COVID-19 Prevention Inspections at All Schools in the Province


[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will conduct intensive COVID-19 prevention inspections at all schools in the province until the 29th.


The Gyeonggi Office of Education announced on the 19th that, in preparation for the second semester opening, it will check the disinfection readiness of each school and carry out intensive disinfection until the 29th of this month targeting kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, special, and various schools in the province to create an environment for infectious disease prevention.


Accordingly, all schools in the province will independently check their disinfection preparation and operation status, and the Office of Education and Education Support Offices will conduct on-site inspections targeting 64 kindergartens, 38 elementary schools, 19 middle schools, 14 high schools, and 1 special school.


The inspection items include ▲establishment of school disinfection self-plans ▲securing disinfection supplies such as rapid antigen test kits ▲deployment and management of disinfection personnel ▲management of disinfection in vulnerable facilities within the school ▲education and promotion of preventive measures for students, parents, and staff.


Superintendent Lim Tae-hee visited Gwanggyo Hosu Elementary School in Suwon on the 18th to check the school's disinfection readiness and held a meeting with staff to hear their on-site opinions.


At this meeting, Superintendent Lim said, "Not only prevention but also how to respond when a crisis occurs is important," and urged, "Schools must have infectious disease response capabilities on-site, and each student, parent, and staff member must take responsibility and practice disinfection rules."


He added, "To ensure stable academic operations in the second semester and prevent infectious diseases, we will actively support budgets and personnel so that disinfection activities at schools proceed smoothly."
