[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] On the 18th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the 47th Tourism Promotion Committee meeting at the City Hall Citizen Hall.
Starting with the appointment ceremony for new committee members, the meeting reviewed the second half tourism revitalization policies, discussed short-term measures to supplement and connect/support the current tourism infrastructure, and exchanged various policy suggestions for the long-term revitalization of tourism in Changwon City.
The committee members engaged in a heated discussion using examples of tourism resources from other regions and current tourism trends to create a stay-type tourist destination by utilizing tourism resources such as the Masan Chrysanthemum Festival and the Gunhangje Festival.
The Changwon City Tourism Promotion Committee was launched in 2014 as a policy advisory body for improving Changwon’s tourism conditions and fostering the local tourism industry. The 27 members, composed of tourism experts including tourism business operators and professors, hold quarterly meetings to discuss the development of Changwon tourism.
Jo Myung-rae, the 2nd Deputy Mayor, said, “To realize Changwon tourism, consumption and production capital must align to develop tourism resources that maximize existing tourism assets by linking them to tourism focused on seeing, eating, and enjoying.” He added, “Assuming we can return to the previous system after the COVID-19 disruptions, we will do our best to revitalize tourism resources anew to restore vitality to the city and its residents.”
