[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Jeonnam Wando-gun announced on the 18th that it will actively promote the cable car installation project connecting Jangbogo Park and the summit of Sangwangsan to build new tourism infrastructure.
Accordingly, on the 16th, the county signed a business agreement with V Industry Co., Ltd., Daeyoung Steel Industry Co., Ltd., and Sarangbang Media Co., Ltd., who shared the intention to install the cable car.
The signing ceremony was attended by Shin Woo-cheol, Wando County Governor, Song Yong-wook, CEO of V Industry Co., Ltd., Park Jeong-hwan, CEO of Daeyoung Steel Industry Co., Ltd., and officials from Sarangbang Media Co., Ltd.
The cable car is planned to be constructed over a total distance of 3.6 km from Jangbogo Park to the summit of Sangwangsan (644m above sea level), a famous mountain in Wando, with 50 cabins, 2 stations, and an observatory.
The project cost for the cable car installation is approximately 75 billion KRW, fully funded by private capital, with construction starting next year and aiming for completion in 2027.
Once the cable car is installed, it is expected to become a new landmark of Wando tourism by allowing visitors to enjoy a panoramic view of the beautiful Dadohae (Korean Archipelago) from the summit of Sangwangsan. Additionally, when the National Subtropical Arboretum is established, a mountain train will also be created from the arboretum entrance to the summit of Sangwangbong, greatly contributing to tourism revitalization.
Shin Woo-cheol, Wando County Governor, said, “I hope for active mutual cooperation to ensure this project proceeds without any setbacks,” and added, “With the cable car, we will promote tourism revitalization by linking various tourist resources.”
