Changwon National University, 2022 Defense Industry Specialized Workforce Training Project
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Changwon National University has been selected as a recipient of the 2022 Defense Industry Specialized Workforce Training Project, organized by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and the Agency for Defense Development.
On the 18th, Changwon National University announced that it aims to alleviate youth unemployment and the shortage of specialized personnel in the defense industry by training experts in the local defense industry field and supporting their employment in defense companies.
This project, led by Changwon National University, will recruit and select 40 unemployed college graduates.
The selected trainees will complete common education such as an introduction to the defense industry, specialized advanced training, and corporate practical training programs over six months.
The advanced training reflects the demand for defense industry personnel in the province and is conducted through the ▲Mechatronics ▲Defense Technology Management tracks.
The Mechatronics track trains experts in embedded systems within weapon systems, while the Defense Technology Management track develops specialists in management fields such as defense cost and IPS.
Corporate practical training will be conducted for two months at leading defense industry companies located in Changwon City.
Tuition, textbook fees, laboratory and practice expenses, and employment consulting fees are fully supported by national funds, and Changwon National University provides job search consulting and a monthly training allowance of up to 1 million KRW.
Applications can be submitted until 6 p.m. on the 30th via the job search website ‘Saramin,’ and applicants must be college or junior college graduates or expected to graduate by August this year, born after January 1, 1988, and under 34 years old.

Professor Park Jonggyu of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the project’s overall director, said, “This project is a customized curriculum that trains outstanding youth as specialized personnel for the defense industry and supplies them to defense companies,” adding, “We expect it to contribute to resolving youth unemployment, addressing the manpower shortage in local defense companies, and strengthening competitiveness.”
