Changwon Special City Launches Joint Inspection of Restaurants Registered on Delivery Apps

Prevention of Foreign Substance Contamination and Strengthening of Food Safety Management

Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, is organizing a joint inspection team with the city and district offices to conduct special inspections of delivery restaurants to prevent food safety accidents.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam will form a joint inspection team with the city and district offices to conduct a special inspection on delivery restaurants, whose consumption has increased due to COVID-19, from the 22nd to the 26th to prevent food safety accidents such as foreign substance contamination.

The city will check ▲ compliance with wearing masks and hygiene caps and hygienic handling standards of food ▲ provide guidance and distribution of foreign substance contamination prevention guidelines (insects, hair, metal, etc.) ▲ instruct precautions for preventing food poisoning ▲ and inform about quarantine rules in response to the resurgence of COVID-19.

Through this inspection, the city plans to immediately correct minor violations on-site and educate business owners on compliance requirements, while imposing strong administrative measures such as business suspension and fines on establishments with poor hygiene conditions.

Earlier, the city has been conducting a full inspection of about 3,200 delivery app-registered restaurants from April to December, and has completed inspections of about 1,200 establishments so far.

Lee Jong-min, Director of the Health and Hygiene Division, said, “We are conducting a joint special inspection with the city and district offices to more thoroughly prevent food safety accidents such as foreign substance contamination,” and added, “We will continue to make efforts to provide food that citizens can consume with peace of mind.”
