[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with the Korea University Sports Council, plans to prepare the "University Sports Team Sports Human Rights Guidelines" and distribute them to 126 member universities.
According to the Ministry, through literature research, surveys, and in-depth interviews, the "University Sports Team Sports Human Rights Guidelines" will be prepared by this October. The guidelines will include a manual for preventing human rights violations that universities must comply with, as well as codes of conduct for each type of violation that must be addressed when human rights violations occur.
A policy official from the Ministry stated, "We will work with the Korea University Sports Council to create a human rights-friendly university sports team culture to prevent the recurrence of cases that infringe on student athletes' human rights."
