Providing Preferential Interest Rates Based on Reduced Household Electricity Consumption
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Hwajeong] IBK Industrial Bank announced on the 19th that it will launch the 'IBK Carbon Zero Savings Account,' which offers preferential interest rates based on the reduction of household electricity consumption.
The IBK Carbon Zero Savings Account is a data-driven innovative product that encourages ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices by reducing household electricity consumption, based on data from 'Apartment i,' an apartment life support platform by Aegis Enterprise.
This is a one-year flexible installment savings product with a monthly deposit limit of up to 1 million KRW, available exclusively through i-ONE Bank (personal). The maximum interest rate is 6.5% per annum, which includes a basic interest rate of 2.5% per annum plus up to 4.0% points in preferential interest rates.
Preferential conditions include: if the number of months with reduced electricity consumption (kWh) compared to the subscription month’s electricity usage (kWh) is 3 or more during 10 months from the subscription month, an additional 1.0% point per annum is provided; if 5 or more months, 2.0% points per annum are provided. New customers of IBK Industrial Bank receive an additional 1.0% point per annum, and customers who have automatic payment records for giro or utility bills from a deposit account in their name for 3 months or more receive an additional 1.0% point per annum.
To commemorate the launch of the IBK Carbon Zero Savings Account, IBK Industrial Bank is also holding an event with generous prizes. The first 1,000 customers who subscribe to the product will receive a 5,000 KRW book and culture gift certificate, and 10 customers will be selected by lottery to receive a Philips Eco Kitchen set (coffee maker, toaster, electric kettle).
Benefits increase when subscribing to the IBK Carbon Zero Savings Account with family or neighbors. If two or more family members living in the same household subscribe to this product, 1,000 people will be selected by lottery to receive 10,000 KRW of 'Apartment Cash' that can be used for management fee payments, and the apartment with the highest subscription rate will be selected to receive a coffee truck service.
An IBK Industrial Bank official said, "We plan to continue launching various deposit products that reflect customer demand."
In addition to the IBK Carbon Zero Savings Account, IBK Industrial Bank is leading ESG management practices through products such as the 'IBK Always Blue Sky Account,' which contributes to fine dust reduction, and the 'IBK Love Sharing Savings Account,' which offers preferential treatment to socially marginalized groups.
