Seven Excellent Criminal Case Investigations Selected, Including the 'Se Moneo Jeonse Fraud' Investigation Team

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The Supreme Prosecutors' Office selected the investigative teams that uncovered the full details of the so-called 'Three Mothers Jeonse Fraud' case through supplementary investigations as exemplary criminal case examples for July.

According to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office on the 18th, the 8th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office conducted additional investigations into the case where the police had referred the 'Three Mothers' without detention, citing 51 victims and damages amounting to 11 billion KRW. They revealed that the suspects committed organized fraud and identified 85 additional victims.

Additionally, the 3rd Criminal Division of the Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office, during the investigation of an infant murder case, requested supplementary investigations and cooperated with the police to uncover the reality of an organization illegally selling Chinese-made abortion pills. The 3rd Criminal Division of the Busan District Prosecutors' Office, after being reassigned a case involving 29 suspects scattered nationwide which required a lengthy investigation, uncovered the truth behind an organized used car double loan fraud.

The 1st Criminal Division of the Tongyeong Branch of the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office, which conducted multifaceted supplementary investigations into a fraud case that the police had decided not to prosecute and successfully arrested and indicted a suspect attempting to flee abroad, and the 2nd Criminal Division of the Masan Branch, which identified additional offenses through supplementary investigations in a case involving unauthorized filming of women's bodies and obscene acts, were also selected as exemplary cases. Included as well was the 3rd Criminal Division of the Jeju District Prosecutors' Office, which, in close cooperation with the Jeju Autonomous Police, apprehended 10 offenders involved in disguising Japanese red sea bream as domestic products for distribution through origin mislabeling.
