Gyeongbuk Province Supports Local SMEs in Winning Government Public Project Selections... Great Achievement! Komotec selected for the 2022 Automotive Industry Technology Development (Green Car) Support Project competition.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gui-yeol] Gyeongbuk Province's 'Small and Medium Venture Technology Development Capability Enhancement Support Project,' which is being promoted to help small and medium venture companies in the province be selected for government R&D project competitions, is achieving great results.

This project supports step-by-step consulting throughout the entire competition process, including how to participate in competitions, task discovery, planning, and business plan writing, so that small and venture companies with excellent local technology can be selected for government R&D projects.

This year, 26 companies have been selected and matched with five specialized consulting institutions, and as of August, 12 companies have been selected for various competitions totaling 17.4 billion KRW.

‘Komotek,’ participating in this project, partnered with Biznium (Gumi) and was selected for the 2022 Automotive Industry Technology Development (Green Car) support project competition hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy through consulting such as market research and patent investigation.

Through this, they achieved the great success of being selected as the main entity of a large-scale project worth a total of 9.7 billion KRW in project funds and securing 5.7 billion KRW in national funding.

Komotek, located in Chilgok, is a startup established in 2017 that produces silicon heat dissipation pads and insulation pads used in electronic products and automotive electronic devices, supplying semiconductor and battery companies.

Through proprietary silicon composite design, they were selected as the exclusive supplier of SSD semiconductors in Samsung Electronics partner tests and have been supplying heat dissipation pads since October last year.

They manage about 80 clients, including signing a supply contract for LG Chem battery heat dissipation pads by domesticating core parts of electric vehicles, a future new industry.

Thanks to continuous efforts in new material development, Komotek, as the lead institution of the project, was selected as a research and development project operator for technology development to improve cooling performance of electric vehicle battery pack systems through a consortium with five institutions and companies, laying the foundation to leap forward as a promising company in the province through this competition.

Gyeongbuk Province, having achieved great results of securing 12 billion KRW in national funding with an investment of 200 million KRW in project funds, plans to provide many opportunities for small and medium venture companies in the province with infinite potential to participate in government R&D competition support projects that can produce great effects with small investments.

Lee Young-seok, Director of the Job Economy Office of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “To strengthen the competitiveness of our small and medium venture companies, it is important to have proactive and timely technology development capabilities,” and added, “We will provide various support so that companies in the province can grow based on enhanced R&D capabilities.”
