Pohang 'Blood Donation House' Boosts Citizen Participation in Blood Donation Culture from New Location!

Enhancing Citizen Convenience, Improving Accessibility, and Increasing Safety through Replacement of Aging Equipment

Pohang 'Blood Donation House' Boosts Citizen Participation in Blood Donation Culture from New Location! The Blood Donation Center held the opening ceremony for the Pohang Center relocation in Sangwon-dong.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Blood Center held an opening ceremony on the 17th for the relocation of the Blood Donation House Pohang Center in Sangwon-dong, Buk-gu.

At the relocation opening ceremony, Pohang Mayor Kangdeok Lee, Blood Management Headquarters Director Namseon Jo, Daegu-Gyeongbuk Blood Center Director Geonmun Lee, and Chairman Simun Ryu of the Korean Red Cross Gyeongbuk Branch attended to celebrate the event together.

Blood transfusion products that can protect the health and lives of patients in need of transfusion can only be obtained through blood donation. Currently, compared to other countries, South Korea is experiencing a rapid decline in birth rates and aging population, resulting in a continuous decrease in blood donors while the number of transfusion recipients continues to increase.

With this relocation, it is expected that many citizens will participate in blood donation as convenience for citizens participating in life-saving blood donation will be enhanced, accessibility improved, and safety increased through the replacement of outdated equipment within the facility.

Mayor Kangdeok Lee said, “We will do our best to create a foundation for a culture of blood donation participation so that all age groups can voluntarily participate in blood donation, improve infrastructure, and create a safe environment from COVID-19 to revitalize blood donation.”
