Chairman Kim Ilchul of the World Taekwondo Federation Special Committee Awarded Honorary Doctorate by Dongmyeong University ... Appointed Distinguished Professor President Jeon Ho-hwan of Dongmyung University (left) is conferring an honorary doctorate degree to Chair Professor Kim Il-chul.


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Kim Il-chul, chairman of the World Taekwondo Federation Special Committee, received an honorary doctorate from Dongmyung University and was appointed as an endowed professor.


On the 17th, Dongmyung University announced that it held a ceremony to award an honorary Doctorate in Business Administration to Kim Il-chul, chairman of the World Taekwondo Federation Headquarters Center Attraction Support Special Committee, who has contributed for a long time in various fields such as the development of medical management and international cooperation in Taekwondo. On the same day, Chairman Kim was appointed as an endowed professor at the university.


President Jeon Ho-hwan said, “Dongmyung University, a future-oriented knowledge university that practices, will play a major role in entering Korea’s TOP10 small but strong universities by establishing the Do-ing University and the Companion Animal University, building a global education and employment linkage program where students study and work in the United States, and more, with the help of Endowed Professor Kim.”


Chairman Kim Il-chul was Korea’s first hospital management consultant and established the ‘Korea Hospital Management Information Research Institute,’ the country’s first private hospital management research institution, contributing to the systematization of hospital management and medical development. He also lectured on future management strategies to many medical-related organizations and institutions.


He published the monthly magazine ‘Hospital Management,’ Korea’s first specialized management magazine for hospitals and clinics, and actively published papers and columns on topics such as ▲the role of university hospitals ▲research on the efficiency evaluation of medical institutions ▲strategies for responding to the opening of the 21st-century medical market ▲the current status and future of the Korean bio-industry.


He also made headlines by serving as the first non-medical director of hospital management at Seongmin Medical Foundation, a 400-bed general hospital in Incheon, achieving notable results.


As a Medical IT company executive, he led the domestic activation of integrated medical information systems and greatly contributed to Korea becoming a global powerhouse in medical information.


He served as the chief administrative deputy secretary general at the World Taekwondo Federation Secretariat and currently serves as chairman of the headquarters attraction special committee.


For peace and coexistence between North and South Korea through Taekwondo, he has led many inter-Korean cooperation events over the past several years, traveling between Seoul, Pyongyang, and China.


He also established the Seoho Scholarship Foundation in his hometown Geoje, donating scholarships and university development funds.


To promote education in various sports fields, Dongmyung University appointed Won Hyung-jin, technical committee member of the Asian Taekwondo Union, as a professor in the Do-ing Department of the Do-ing University this year.


Professor Won is the Taekwondo director of the Angel Peace Art Troupe and is actively involved in community talent donation, Taekwondo performances, and the 2030 Busan World Expo attraction concert.
