Thanks to Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Continued Service ... KHNP Resumes First 'Global Volunteer Activities' Since COVID-19 Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power and the Korea University Social Service Council carried out global volunteer activities in Trebic City, Vyso?ina Region, Czech Republic, from the 8th to the 10th.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power and the Korea University Social Service Council conducted global volunteer activities in Trebic City, Vysocina Region, Czech Republic, from the 8th to the 10th of last month.

The Czech global volunteer activity, now in its fourth year, was held annually from 2017 to 2019, but in 2020 and 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on-site volunteering was temporarily suspended and replaced with the delivery of healthcare supplies such as masks and diagnostic kits.

However, this year, with the global reopening, the project was resumed to strengthen Korea-Czech exchange and cooperation.

This volunteer activity involved a total of 20 participants, including 10 university student volunteers selected through a nationwide competition and 4 local Korean university student volunteers who joined on-site in the Czech Republic.

A Czech local student (Teresa, resident of Trebic City) who participated in 2019 voluntarily joined the activity, adding significance to the resumption of exchanges between the two countries.

Jeon Dae-wook, Head of Planning at KHNP, said, “We are pleased that the exchange between Korea and the Czech Republic, which was interrupted due to COVID-19, has resumed through this global volunteer activity. We hope that Korean culture will become more familiar to the local Czech residents through this volunteer work, and we expect the friendly relations and trust between the two countries to be further strengthened.”

Pavel Pacal, Mayor of Trebic City, Czech Republic, said, “We could feel the sincere heart of KHNP, which comes to our region every year for volunteer activities, and we will actively convey the favorable public opinion of local residents regarding the upcoming new nuclear power plant project to the central government.”
