[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeojonggu] Students from the Cosmetics Chemical Engineering Department at Yeongnam Institute of Technology have filed a patent for cosmetics developed for pet care.
This patent application is the result of the '2021 Industrial Field Exploration and Job Mentoring Program for High School Students,' through which they secured core technology related to pet care cosmetics in collaboration with a LINC3.0 partner company.
The cosmetics development patent involves a pet care cream composition designed to prevent slipping and moisturize the paw skin of pets. It was initiated to address joint diseases in pets caused by existing moisturizers that actually increase slipping during pet movement.
The patented technology features the elimination of stickiness in pet cosmetics while increasing friction to maximize anti-slip effects. It is quickly absorbed into the skin to maintain moisture and uses natural ingredients, ensuring no immune side effects.
Kang Chaerim, who played a leading role in this patent application, said, “I participated in the bio-nano based smart beauty and healthcare program, part of the industrial field exploration and job mentoring project for high school students conducted by Yeongnam Institute of Technology when I was a senior in high school, and succeeded in developing the technology.”
Professor Lee Jongmin of the Cosmetics Chemical Engineering Department stated, “Through the industrial field exploration and job mentoring program for high school students, a student with strong determination to pursue this field continued on to higher education, resulting in the achievement of a patent application.”
“With Yeongnam Institute of Technology’s excellent technical capabilities, we will do our best to enhance corporate value through industry-academia collaborative research, commercialization, and technology transfer, as well as contribute to improving students’ technical skills,” he added.
