From September this year to February next year, Part-Time Childcare Pilot Project ... Improving the Quality of Childcare Services
Gumi City was selected the most in the national government public contest project for integrated pilot part-time childcare at daycare centers.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Gumi City, Gyeongbuk Province, participated in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s ‘Pilot Project for Integrated Operation of Part-time Childcare’ and as a result, 28 daycare centers in the city were selected to conduct a pilot project from September this year to February next year, where part-time childcare children will be cared for together in regular daycare classes.
A total of 275 centers (419 classes) from 38 cities, counties, and districts nationwide participated in this public contest, and 124 daycare centers (168 classes) from 14 cities, counties, and districts were selected nationwide. Among the participating cities, counties, and districts, Gumi City achieved the highest selection with 28 centers and 28 classes.
This pilot project provides 600,000 KRW per month for daycare operation expenses, 180,000 KRW per month as childcare teacher allowances, and 5,000 KRW per hour per child for childcare fees.
The service is available for children aged 6 months to under 36 months. Parents raising children at home who need hourly childcare services due to job preparation or short-term work can reserve specific time slots on a monthly basis and use the nearest part-time childcare daycare center.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “We expect this pilot project to greatly help reduce the burden of childcare, and we will continue to make efforts to expand demand-centered childcare infrastructure.”
