The Gyeongbuk Office of Education, through a hiring agreement with Ajou Steel, an excellent local mid-sized company, operates a job training course linked to employment for 47 students who passed the first screening in a total of three sessions (each lasting two weeks). After completing the job training course, self-development funds are provided to help students cultivate the competencies needed during the transition from student to working adult. After graduating from high school, if they participate in the pre-employment post-learning pathway developed by the company, they can also complete an associate degree at Yeungnam Institute of Technology.
Additionally, when enlisting in the military, the company supports stable settlement by recognizing continuous service years during military service and providing service consolation money, helping the company secure excellent talent and supporting students.
The industry-linked job training course is developed focusing only on the competencies required by companies and taught by masters. Feedback from participating students shows very high satisfaction and that it served as an opportunity to reaffirm their roles as prospective members of society.
▲ Student Bae OO said, “While preparing for the Ajou Steel interview, I knew the meanings of terms related to the company, but I had many questions about exactly when to use them and their advantages. Through the lectures, I learned precisely, and after joining Ajou Steel, I will become a person the company needs based on what I learned.”
▲ Student Seong OO said, “I realized that being good at studying does not necessarily mean success in society. If you work in a field you are good at and utilize many ideas, you can be more recognized in society than friends who were better during school days. I resolved to work hard in company life.”
Park Jong-hwal, Director of Policy, said, “The operation of the job training course under the Gyeongbuk Office of Education’s Vocational Education Innovation District Project developed a process where companies and students can achieve a Win-Win through agreements with excellent companies. We will do our best together with the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government to establish a foundation for vocational high school students in the province to find employment at excellent local companies and settle in the region.”
