[Asia Economy reporters Hyunju Lee and Hyunji Kwon] Joo Ho-young, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, stated on the 17th that he "cannot confirm" reports of a meeting with former leader Lee Jun-seok.
On his way to work that day, when asked by reporters whether the reports that he and former leader Lee met were incorrect, Chairman Joo said, "I cannot confirm that either," adding, "I don't know if there is a reason why I cannot confirm it."
He also stated that he will continue to pursue a meeting with the former leader. He said, "If there is a necessary opportunity, I will meet anytime," but added, "However, since Representative Lee has publicly said he will not meet, repeatedly asking to meet seems impolite." He further added, "We have made it clear that we are willing to meet anytime and discuss anything."
Regarding the former leader's injunction request to suspend the Emergency Response Committee's effectiveness, Chairman Joo said, "It is cautious to make assumptions in advance, but after reviewing and confirming with the legal support team, we have concluded that there is absolutely no problem with our procedures."
