Police: "No Evidence of Criminal Suspicion Found"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Police have been searching for a man in his 20s who fell into the Han River after drinking with friends for two days. However, according to the investigation so far, no signs of criminal activity have been found.
On the 16th, the Gangnam Police Station announced that they are expanding the search area downstream of the Han River in connection with a man in his 20s, Mr. A. The police received a joint response request from the fire department at 5:16 a.m. the previous day and have been searching for Mr. A using the fire department, Han River police unit, riot police, helicopters, drones, and search dogs.
Mr. A drank with two friends of the same age at a restaurant in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and at a friend's residence in Apgujeong. Afterwards, he visited the Han River riverside park in Apgujeong-dong and went missing after falling into the water.
The missing person report was made through a passerby at the request of Mr. A's friend. According to the fire authorities, the passerby reportedly said at the time of the report, "Mr. A went into the Han River but is not visible." Another friend tried to rescue Mr. A but was unable to find him.
The police are currently investigating the two friends who were at the scene and the person who made the report.
After reviewing CCTV footage from the restaurant, the friend's house, and the Han River area, the police stated that no signs of criminal activity have been found so far.
A police official said, “We will continue to cooperate closely with related agencies such as the fire department to do our best to quickly find the missing person.”
