Gyeongnam Creative Economy Innovation Center and 10 Regional Universities 'Join Hands'... Nurturing Talent and Enhancing Startup Capabilities

Gyeongnam Center for Creative Economy and Innovation signed a business agreement with 10 local universities.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Creative Economy Innovation Center announced on the 12th that it signed a business agreement with 10 universities to foster local talent and strengthen startup capabilities.

The agreement involved ▲Geoje University ▲Gyeongnam National University ▲Gyeongnam Provincial Namhae College ▲Gyeongsang National University ▲Dongwon Institute of Science and Technology ▲Masan University ▲Yeonam Institute of Technology ▲Inje University ▲Changwon National University ▲Changwon Moonsung University, all of which are carrying out the 2022 LINC 3.0 project.

The center and the universities agreed to cooperate on ▲joint operation of startup capability enhancement programs for university (graduate) students ▲information sharing and collaboration on entrepreneurship and startup methodology education ▲activation of personnel exchanges for startup promotion and policy establishment ▲infrastructure support and exchange for discovering prospective entrepreneurs and startup companies within universities ▲promotion of work activities among cooperating institutions and various consultations.

The signatory institutions will take the first step of the agreement by jointly operating the university student startup CORN test with local universities.

Each university plans to recruit participating teams from their students from August 15 to September 2.

Participating teams will proactively identify and solve problems through the CORN project practical courses, CORN 1 (Customer Development) and CORN 3 (Business Development), which are startup innovation methodology practice trainings.

The results of each team will be evaluated through external review, and the winners of prize money totaling approximately 15 million KRW will be decided.

Director Lee Dong-hyung said, “An open stage where young people can enjoy participating is necessary to revitalize the local startup ecosystem,” adding, “The Gyeongnam regional university student startup CORN test, conducted in cooperation with major universities in the province, will be an open stage for youth and a moment when young people’s innovative ideas take off powerfully like a rocket.”
