President Yoon's Job Performance: 1 in 2 Respondents Expect It to Be Worse Than Now [Realmeter]

'Worse than Now' 51.0% vs 'Better than Now' 32.5%
2024 General Election, More than 4 out of 10 Respondents (47.8%) Expect 'Minority Government with Opposition Majority' Maintained

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] A public opinion survey revealed that about half of the respondents believe that President Yoon Suk-yeol's performance in office, marking 100 days on the 17th, will be "worse than now."

On the 16th, Realmeter, commissioned by Energy Economy Newspaper, conducted a survey from the 11th to the 12th targeting 1,022 men and women nationwide aged 18 and older regarding "President Yoon Suk-yeol's outlook on national governance." The results showed that 32.5% of respondents answered "will do better than now," while 51.0% answered "will do worse than now." 15.4% believed it would be "similar to now," and 1.0% answered "don't know."


When asked about "how the country's livelihood and economy will be in the future compared to now," only 24.6% responded "will improve," whereas 53.5% said "will worsen," marking a majority. 19.7% answered "will be about the same as now."


Regarding future relations with North Korea, 53.6% said "will worsen compared to now," exceeding half, while only 7.4% said "will improve compared to now." 36.2% answered "will be about the same as now."


For the general election to be held in 2024, the outlook that "the ruling party will remain in the minority" was dominant.

The response "the minority ruling party situation will be maintained" was the highest at 47.8%, followed by 24.0% who said "the ruling and opposition parties will have similar numbers of seats." The proportion who believed "the ruling party will hold a majority of seats" was 22.5%.


The top priority task that the Yoon administration should pursue or continue was "price stabilization (30.8%)."


This was followed by "economic revitalization and job creation (20.6%)," "strengthening and improving diplomacy and security (11.3%)," "government and public institution reform and restructuring (10.7%)," and "ruling-opposition cooperation (9.3%)."

The response rate for this survey was 4.3%, and the sampling error was ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
