[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Bo-ryeong] The Democratic Party's leading presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung introduced an 'online platform' during his visit to Honam on the 15th. The plan is to decide on major party issues through party member voting and directly gather the voices of party members.

At a talk concert with supporters held at Suncheon National University in Jeonnam on the same day, Candidate Lee said, "(Party members) see everything the party does through the media, but the media acts as a 'gate,' only passing or slightly modifying what they deem necessary," adding, "As a result, the public cannot communicate with the party."

He continued, "We should create a platform. Through this, we can collect public opinion from party members and deliver information to them," explaining, "We need to establish such a communication structure."

Earlier, on the 1st, Candidate Lee mentioned, "Let's create an online platform within the party where members can criticize lawmakers they want to complain about," but after criticism from inside and outside the party that this was "pressuring opposition lawmakers through hardline party members," he effectively apologized by saying, "I will be more cautious with my remarks." However, his remarks on this day are interpreted as showing that his plan to open an online platform after assuming party leadership remains unchanged.

At the Suncheon National University event, Candidate Lee also said, "Party members should be able to petition the party and vote on important party decisions." He added, "We should vote on questions like 'Should we have a special prosecutor?' and 'Should we impeach?' If the members vote against it, then it shouldn't be done," emphasizing, "Voting should become a routine."

Along with this, Candidate Lee stated, "Increasing communication between the public and the party, and between party members and the party, is not difficult. It's a matter of mindset," and said, "This is the way to regain the public's trust."
