Ranked 11th in all-time girl group album first-week sales
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Girl group NewJeans is setting records by breaking the first-week sales (initial sales) record for their debut album.
On the 15th, their agency ADOR announced that NewJeans' debut album "New Jeans" sold 311,271 copies within a week of its release. This is the highest first-week sales record for a girl group debut album in history.
The previous record was held by LE SSERAFIM's first mini-album "FEARLESS." Released in May, FEARLESS sold a total of 307,450 copies in its first week.
NewJeans sold 262,815 copies just one day after the album's release, setting a new record for the highest first-day sales of a girl group debut album. With this, NewJeans became the team to hold both the highest first-day sales and first-week sales records for a girl group debut album according to the Hanteo Chart.
With this achievement, NewJeans ranked 11th in the all-time girl group album initial sales chart.
Their popularity is also evident on music charts. NewJeans' first title track "Attention" and second title track "Hype Boy" held the 1st and 2nd positions respectively on South Korea's Spotify "Daily Top Songs" chart for 13 consecutive days. The third title track "Cookie" ranked 3rd for 7 consecutive days. "Attention" also charted at 179th on Spotify's global "Daily Top Songs" chart on the 13th, marking its third consecutive day on the chart.
NewJeans is a rookie girl group under ADOR, led by CEO Min Heejin, consisting of five members: Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. They made their official debut last month on the 22nd by releasing the music video for their debut song "Attention."
