Gumi Wangsanchon Elementary School Wins 1st Place in Korea Student Orchestra

Gyeongnam Office of Education Hosts the 5th Korea Student Orchestra Festival

Gyeongbuk Gumi Wangsang Elementary School won the grand prize in the student category at the 5th Korea Student Orchestra Festival.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Gumi Wangsang Elementary School in Gyeongbuk won the grand prize in the student division at the 5th Korea Student Orchestra Festival.

Hosted by the Gyeongnam Office of Education and Hamyang County in Gyeongnam, the festival featured 40 teams from across the country.

The participating teams competed in orchestra, wind orchestra, and ensemble/club categories, divided into school divisions (elementary, middle, and high school) and regional divisions (youth and general).

At the competition held on the 12th at the Hamyang Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater, the top elementary orchestra team, Gumi Wangsang Elementary School, the top elementary wind orchestra team, Masan Sinwol Elementary School, and the top middle school wind orchestra team, Changnyeong Namji Girls' Middle School, showcased their skills competing for the grand prize.

As a result, Gumi Wangsang Elementary School, which performed "Le Po?te et le Paysan (Supp?)" and "Carmen Overture (Bizet)," took first place and received the Minister of Education Award, while in the regional division, the Gumi Youth Wind Orchestra won the grand prize.

Ha Jeonghwa, Director of the Department of Physical Education, Arts, and Health, said, "Thanks to the continuous efforts of the members and instructors who worked hard so that the orchestra activity, which requires harmony of all performances rather than a single sound, could be successful, the event concluded splendidly," adding, "We will do our best to hold next year’s festival with even greater substance."
