[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] On the 77th anniversary of Liberation Day on the 15th, Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, stated, "In the mission of the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol government and the stabilization of people's livelihoods, as Teacher Kim Dong-sam said, 'We must abandon individual opinions and stubbornness.' The government must succeed for the people and the nation to succeed."

On the same day, Ahn said through his Facebook, "Division within is more frightening than external enemies."

He continued, "The ruling party has a heavy responsibility to take charge of the nation's future," emphasizing, "What the Emergency Response Committee must do is to create a foundation for harmony and stability."

He also said, "Today, on Liberation Day, we should calmly reflect on ourselves with the spirit of the independence movement and from tomorrow, pursue politics of integration for the future."

This statement by Ahn is interpreted as a call to resolve the internal turmoil within the party over the past month and move forward.

Along with this, Ahn referenced the words of independence activist Ilsong Kim Dong-sam: "What use is a grave for a body without a country? When I die, burn my body and float it down the river. Even as a spirit wandering the sea, I will watch the day the Japanese invaders perish and the homeland is liberated," saying, "I reflect on the noble will of those who sacrificed themselves for the independence and integration of the homeland by abandoning themselves."
