[Photo] '2022 Seodaemun Independence Festa' Opens to Celebrate Liberation Day

Seongheon Lee, Mayor of Seodaemun District (sitting on the left), visited the Seodaemun Prison History Hall, where the citizen history festival "2022 Seodaemun Independence Festa" was held on the 14th, and waved the Taegeukgi flag together with a child.

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) is hosting the ‘2022 Seodaemun Independence Festa’ to share the joy of Liberation and the spirit of freedom and peace. The event continues on the 15th, Liberation Day, at the Seodaemun Prison History Hall following the opening day on the 14th.

After the 77th Liberation Anniversary celebration performance and the video performance ‘Light’s Resistance’ projected on the prison’s outer wall moved and inspired citizens on the first day, the second day features ▲ citizen participation game ‘Secret Society, Escape from the Prison’ ▲ historical reenactment play ‘When That Day Comes’ ▲ participatory performance ‘Independence Army Rescue Operation’ performed together by citizens and actors.

Additionally, visitors can join various experience programs such as making framed quotes of Ahn Chang-ho, learning about the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea on Liberation Day, applying to join the Liberation Corps, lighting the torch of independence, and making paper dolls of patriot Yun Bong-gil. There are also violin and Taekwondo performances and independence-themed performances to enjoy.
