[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The special investigation team led by Special Prosecutor Ahn Mi-young (56, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 25), investigating the death case of the late Air Force Sergeant Lee Yeram, a victim of sexual violence, has requested an arrest warrant for a lawyer involved in the alleged fabrication of a recording related to the Air Force Legal Office Chief's attempt to cover up the investigation.
On the 14th, the special investigation team announced that they had requested a post-arrest warrant for former law firm lawyer Mr. A. The pre-arrest interrogation for Mr. A is scheduled to be held on the afternoon of the 15th at the Seoul Central District Court. Earlier, on the 9th, the special investigation team conducted a search of Mr. A's office and on the 12th, while investigating Mr. A as a suspect, he was urgently detained on charges including evidence fabrication and obstruction of business.
According to the special investigation team, Mr. A is related to the so-called 'Jeon Ik-su recording' fabrication allegations, which were exposed by the Military Human Rights Center in November last year, containing circumstances that Jeon Ik-su, Air Force Legal Office Chief (52, Brigadier General), directed a non-detention investigation of the sexual violence perpetrator.
The special investigation team is reportedly examining the possibility that Mr. A delivered the fabricated audio file to the Military Human Rights Center in the form of a tip, which ultimately led the center to disclose a recording that was not factual.
