'Forced Molestation Allegation' Former Democratic Party Lawmaker's Office Staff Sent to Prosecution

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A former aide to a Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker has been handed over to the prosecution on charges of sexually assaulting another lawmaker's office staff member.

On the 14th, the Dongjak Police Station in Seoul announced that on the 5th, they had sent former Democratic Party aide A to the prosecution without detention on charges of forcible sexual assault.

A is accused of forcibly sexually assaulting B, a woman in her 20s who was an employee of another Democratic Party lawmaker's office, while drinking at A's home in April last year, along with another staff member C.

The police received a complaint in June last year and began an investigation, and the relevant lawmaker's office dismissed A.

During the police investigation, A reportedly stated that he had "a special relationship beyond friendship" with B.

A police official said, "Based on the statements at the time and related evidence, we judged that there was sufficient cause for the charges."
