Over 11 Years Boldly... Gijang Police Station Investigates Deputy Manager Embezzling 1.2 Billion Won in Company Funds

According to the Gijang Police Station in Busan, a female deputy manager in her 40s, Ms. A, from a construction manpower company in Gijang-gun, is being investigated on charges of embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.

Ms. A joined the company as an accounting staff member in 2010 and embezzled 1.24 billion KRW about 1,900 times from April 2011 to March 2022, over a period of more than 11 years.

Without the company's consent, Ms. A transferred company funds to her husband's account or withdrew cash to use for living expenses.

The company representative, Mr. B, a man in his 50s, discovered Ms. A's embezzlement and filed a complaint with the police in June.

After the embezzlement was uncovered, Ms. A admitted to the crime and reportedly submitted a written pledge to repay the money to the company.

A police official stated, "The investigation is ongoing according to procedures," and added, "We cannot disclose detailed information."
