[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] An event sharing health food was held in Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk, ahead of Malbok.
The Yeongyang-eup Community Security Council organized the 'Goodbye Summer! Malbok Sagol Gomtang Sharing Day' event on the 12th for neighbors in need.
The event gifted nourishing gomtang soup to 40 households in welfare blind spots identified by the Yeongyang-eup Integrated Case Management Target and the council, aiming to help recover their bodies and minds exhausted by the heatwave and monsoon, and to overcome the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, council members voluntarily contributed part of the funds for purchasing gomtang ingredients and made the seasoning sauce to accompany the soup themselves. With signs of a resurgence of COVID-19 infections, they paid close attention to hygiene and quarantine measures and completed the delivery of the gomtang.
Mr. Kim (male, 76), who received the gomtang, said, "This year, the repeated heatwave and monsoon have been very exhausting, so I am thankful for the food prepared like this," and expressed, "I will eat it deliciously and regain my strength."
Oh Hyung-won, the public committee chair of the council, said, "This event was prepared with the hope that vulnerable groups in the area will not be worn out by the heat and COVID-19 during Malbok," and added, "I hope everyone enjoys the food and safely gets through this year's heat."
