Gangjin-gun, Gangjin-eup Market Prepares to Welcome Customers for Chuseok

Maintenance of Market Surroundings Including Rainwater Drains and Sewers

[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin County in Jeonnam is busy preparing to welcome customers by completing environmental cleanup and planning marketing events ahead of the national holiday, Chuseok.

Since the 4th, the county has been promoting the slogan "Keep Gangjin-eup Market Clean, Pleasant, and Fresh" on market days, with the participation of over 20 people including the Gangjin-eup Market Merchants Association, social volunteer groups, and public officials, conducting garbage collection and cleanliness activities around the comprehensive building, fishery building, and roads surrounding the market.

Additionally, on the 11th, to prevent flood damage and create a safe road environment, the county spent about 3 million won on dredging work for a 400m drainage channel and 80 rainwater inlets, removing fallen leaves, soil, and trash.

Furthermore, to attract the interest of local residents and tourists during the Chuseok holiday and to revitalize the traditional market commercial district by injecting vitality into the market, various events are also being planned.

Starting from the 19th, on every market day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., various programs such as prize giveaways and Pumba performances will be held on the main stage located within the comprehensive building.

Gangjin County Governor Kang Jin-won stated, "We will prepare long-term measures to support market merchants who are facing great difficulties due to COVID-19 and the recent opening of large discount stores, and to provide customers with a pleasant and convenient market environment," adding, "We will continue to make greater efforts to encourage the continuous interest and participation of county residents in the traditional market."
