In the Era of High Prices, This Menu Is Perfect for Preparing a 'Homecance'


[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] As the peak summer vacation season arrives, more people are enjoying homecations, relaxing comfortably at home due to the era of high prices. The dining industry is delighting customers enjoying homecations with menus featuring ingredients that evoke a vacation vibe for both the eyes and the palate.


According to the industry on the 14th, SPC Group’s coffee specialty brand Pascucci recently introduced two new items: the ‘Beach Cake’ and ‘Oat Granita,’ inspired by seaside scenery designs.


The Beach Cake is inspired by the Positano beach, a representative Italian resort, applying the beach scenery to the cake design to add a refreshing summer atmosphere.


The two types of Oat Granita are iced drinks made with oat milk and ice base, mixed with black sesame and caramel, served with gelato, boasting rich texture and coolness.

CJ Foodville’s Vips is offering summer limited menus using tropical fruits like coconut and pineapple, evoking a resort feel.


The summer limited menu includes ‘Coconut Crunch Pork Ribs,’ pork ribs coated with coconut crumble, as well as ‘Barbecue Pork Platter,’ ‘Pulled Pork Platter,’ ‘Lemon Cream Chicken,’ and ‘Spice Barbecue Chicken.’ They also introduced the ‘Vips BBQ Party Pack,’ which allows customers to enjoy finger foods that pair well with wine, non-alcoholic cocktails made with tropical fruits, pulled pork, pork ribs, coleslaw, and jambalaya rice all at once at home.

Pizza Alvolo is targeting homecation customers with the ‘Daesae Pizza,’ made using Argentine natural red shrimp, known as lobster shrimp.


The Daesae Pizza is a unique menu created in collaboration with the chicken brand Bareun Chicken, featuring Pizza Alvolo’s ‘Black Rice Dough’ aged for 72 hours and Bareun Chicken’s ‘Daesae Red Sauce,’ characterized by its spicy flavor. It is topped generously with soft and hearty lobster shrimp, pepperoni, jalape?o, and Grana Padano cheese, offering a rich texture and flavor reminiscent of a resort meal.


An industry insider said, “Even without going to a resort, we are targeting homecation customers with special ingredients and menu designs that evoke a resort feeling through the menu alone,” adding, “We aim to provide a vacation experience through taste that satisfies both the eyes and the palate.”
