Encourages Communication Activities as Ambassador of Hanbok, Hansik, Hanok, and Hangeul in Meeting with Goryeoin

Gyeongbuk Province Conducts Extensive Sales Diplomacy with Uzbek Government Officials Governor Lee Cheol-woo of Gyeongbuk Province visited Uzbekistan Innotechno Park and signed an agreement to foster startup companies.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gui-yeol] Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, conducted extensive sales diplomacy on the 11th in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, holding meetings with the Minister of Foreign Investment and Trade and Deputy Prime Minister, Senior Deputy Chairman of the Senate, Minister of Early Childhood Education and Senator, Member of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Goryeo Culture Association, Vice Minister of Innovation and Development, Governor of Tashkent Region, and Mayor of Tashkent.


On the morning of the 11th, he exchanged various opinions with the Minister of Foreign Investment and Trade and Deputy Prime Minister on mutual cooperation in the textile and textile machinery sectors and fostering the 4th industrial revolution.


He also signed a friendship exchange agreement with Mirzayev Zoir Toyirovich, Governor of Tashkent Region, to promote new cooperation in various fields such as economy, trade, culture, and agriculture between the two regions.


In the afternoon, he exchanged various opinions on expanding exchanges in the fields of economy and trade with Mirzayev Zoir Toarovich, Mayor of Tashkent; Safayev Sadeq, Senior Deputy Chairman of the Senate; Shin Agripina, Minister of Early Childhood Education and Senator; and Park Viktor, Member of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Goryeo Culture Association.


Following this, Governor Lee discussed with the Vice Minister of Innovation and Development about fostering startup companies, joint research in related fields, and personnel exchanges.


Gyeongbuk Province’s Gyeongbuk Technopark and Yeungnam University signed a strategic business cooperation agreement with the Director of Inno Technopark and the President of Akfa University from Uzbekistan to foster startups and nurture technical personnel, aiming for mutual cooperation and support.


At a subsequent meeting event with the Koryoin (ethnic Koreans in Central Asia), Governor Lee said, “I am proud and grateful that our people who migrated to this distant place have reached today’s position through diligent and sincere lives. I hope this precious occasion will serve as a platform for communication with you as ambassadors of our nation’s Hanok, Hanbok, Hansik, and Hangeul.”


In response, Park Viktor, Chairman of the Koryoin Association, said, “We appreciate the governor and his delegation visiting this far place, and we hope this visit will bring much affection and interest toward the Koryoin. We hope this will be a valuable opportunity for both countries and regions to develop and grow together through the Koryoin.”

Ten small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based in Gyeongbuk, including Garam Off Nature (Gyeongsan, CEO Oh Seong-eum, Secretary General of the Korea-Azerbaijan Association), held export consultation meetings in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan from the 8th to the 12th, achieving high export contracts and consultation results.


This visit aimed to open new alternative markets for SMEs struggling with exports due to the Russia-Ukraine war. About 40 SMEs based in Gyeongbuk simultaneously held consultations with buyers in four countries and four regions to promote export expansion.
