[Seoul District News] Geumcheon-gu to Conduct Intensive Safety Inspections on Aging Buildings, Retaining Walls, and Construction Sites for 59 Days from August 17 to October 14 & Anyone Can Participate via Safe Report Portal and Smartphone App
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that from August 17 to October 14, for 59 days, it will conduct intensive inspections of safety-vulnerable areas for the 'Great Safety Transformation of the Republic of Korea.'
This inspection is a large-scale preventive activity in which all sectors of society, including various facilities such as buildings, laws, systems, and practices, participate together with central government ministries, local governments, public institutions, private experts, and the public to identify and improve safety risk factors.
This year, the targets for Geumcheon-gu's comprehensive safety diagnosis include a total of 111 locations, including facilities delegated for inspection by central government ministries and self-inspected facilities. The focus will be on inspecting disaster-vulnerable facilities such as aged and high-risk buildings and recently accident-prone facilities to make every effort to prevent safety accidents.
As a result of the comprehensive safety diagnosis, violations of individual laws will be subject to administrative measures, and if serious defects or risk factors are found, emergency safety measures such as urgent repairs, reinforcements, or usage restrictions will be implemented. Minor issues will be corrected immediately on-site during the inspection.
In addition, promotion of the Safety Report System, where residents can directly report safety risk factors in daily life and suggest improvements, will be strengthened to protect safety in daily life together with the residents.
Anyone can report safety issues or suggest improvements using the Safety Report Portal or the smartphone 'Safety Report App.'
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “This on-site inspection will be efficiently conducted in parallel with inspections of safety-vulnerable facilities in preparation for Chuseok. Cooperation and participation of residents are most important for the successful national safety transformation.”
