[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] LG announced on the 11th that it has donated 2 billion KRW to the Community Chest of Korea to help residents of Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and other areas severely affected by the heavy rain.

The restoration fund will be used for the rapid recovery of flood-affected areas and support for disaster victims.

An LG official said, "We hope to contribute, even if only a little, to the swift restoration of damages so that those who have lost their homes and are struggling due to the heavy rain can return to their daily lives as soon as possible."

Each affiliate is also engaging in emergency relief efforts such as free repairs of water-damaged home appliances and support for wireless communication services.

LG Electronics has established a service base in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, where the flood damage was particularly severe, and dispatched service engineers to provide free repair services for water-damaged appliances. Additionally, 10 air purifiers and 10 Aero Towers are being provided to the temporary shelter at Guryong Village in Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu. LG Electronics service engineers plan to clean water-damaged appliances on-site free of charge and, if necessary, replace parts to ensure that residents in the affected areas do not experience inconvenience in using appliances such as refrigerators and air conditioners.

LG Uplus, together with the Korean Red Cross, provided free mobile phone charging and Wi-Fi services at the auditorium of Guryong Middle School, where about 50 residents of Guryong Village in Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, who were affected by the flooding, have evacuated. In addition, network monitoring personnel are operating 24 hours a day, including at the control room of the Seoul Magok office.
