[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] Han Dong-hoon, Minister of Justice, has ordered legal support for flood-affected residents.
On the 11th, Minister Han said, "I pray for the souls of the victims of the heavy rain. I extend my condolences to the many citizens who have suffered damage," and added, "We will provide legal support through the Korea Legal Aid Corporation, Legal Home Doctor, and village lawyers."
He also explained, "We have urgently deployed community service order recipients to the flood sites to assist with recovery efforts," and "I instructed the prosecution to carefully prepare measures such as refraining from summoning those involved in flood-related incidents."
Minister Han added, "The Ministry of Justice will explore all possible measures and do its best to help restore daily life as soon as possible."
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) as of 6 a.m. on the 11th, casualties from the heavy rain were reported as 11 dead (6 in Seoul, 3 in Gyeonggi, 2 in Gangwon), 8 missing (3 in Seoul, 3 in Gyeonggi, 2 in Gangwon), and 19 injured (Gyeonggi).
The number of displaced persons increased to 982 individuals in 548 households, mainly in Seoul and Gyeonggi. Additionally, 4,297 people in 2,042 households temporarily evacuated.
