Yeonggwang-gun Actively Promotes the Activation of the 'Hometown Love Donation System'

[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do recently launched an active campaign to promote the hometown love donation system.

According to the county on the 11th, the hometown love donation system allows individuals to donate up to 5 million KRW annually to local governments other than their current residence, receiving tax deductions (100% up to 100,000 KRW, and 16.5% on the excess) and gifts worth up to 30% of the donation amount.

For example, if you donate 100,000 KRW, you receive a full tax deduction and can enjoy gifts such as local specialties from Yeonggwang-gun worth approximately 30,000 KRW.

This round of promotional visits to towns and townships was conducted to explain the purpose and key details of the hometown love donation system, increase interest in the program, and seek cooperation for promotion during external gatherings such as hometown associations and alumni meetings managed by each town and township, as well as various events.

Officials from the towns and townships said, “If the hometown love donation system is successfully established, it is expected to enhance the affection of hometown residents and help vulnerable groups within the county with the collected donations. We will actively participate in various festivals and events related to external gatherings such as local hometown associations and alumni meetings to promote the system.”

The county plans to accelerate full-scale operations including the enactment of ordinances, establishment of funds, and solicitation of gifts after the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s enforcement decree is established by the end of this month.
