[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korea Forest Service announced on the 11th at 11 a.m. that it will raise the landslide risk alert level from 'Interest' to 'Caution' for the Jeonbuk and Gyeongbuk regions.

According to the regional rainfall forecast analysis by the National Institute of Forest Science, heavy rainfall exceeding 200mm is expected in the Chungcheong, Jeonbuk, and Gyeongbuk areas from the 11th to the 12th.

Accordingly, the Korea Forest Service has upgraded the alert level to 'Caution' for Jeonbuk and Gyeongbuk, while maintaining the 'Warning' level for the Seoul metropolitan area, Daejeon, Sejong, Gangwon, and Chungcheong regions.

The Korea Forest Service explained that the Seoul metropolitan area and others have experienced accumulated preceding rainfall and continuous rainfall is forecasted, so the landslide risk alert level will remain at 'Warning.'

Kim Yong-gwan, Director of Forest Protection at the Korea Forest Service, said, "The risk of landslides is increasing due to continuous heavy rainfall day after day," and urged, "The public should pay close attention to emergency disaster messages, disaster broadcasts, and village broadcasts, and evacuate promptly according to guidance in case of emergency."
