[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] As the daily confirmed cases reached 130,000, which is 1.27 times that of the previous week, the number of critically ill patients and deaths continues to rise daily.


According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters on the 11th, as of midnight, 137,241 new COVID-19 cases were reported, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 20,983,169. Among these, 522 cases were imported from overseas.


The number of new confirmed cases on this day was 1.27 times that of a week ago, an increase of 29,382 cases. Although the multiplier compared to the previous week, which was about 1.4 times during the last weekend, has decreased, the weekly number of confirmed cases is on the rise. Compared to the previous day, when new confirmed cases exceeded 150,000, the number decreased by 14,551.


The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized is 418, an increase of 16 from the previous day. The number of critically ill patients has been increasing for four consecutive days since the 7th: 297 → 324 → 364 → 402 → 418. The nationwide critical care bed occupancy rate is 38.8%, with 37.6% in the metropolitan area and 41.5% in non-metropolitan areas.


The number of deaths was recorded at 59, an increase of 9 from the previous day. Deaths have also been increasing for four consecutive days since the 7th: 27 → 29 → 40 → 50 → 59. By age group, 33 were aged 80 or older, 11 in their 70s, 9 in their 60s, 4 in their 50s, and 2 in their 20s. The cumulative number of deaths is 25,441, with a fatality rate of 0.12%.


On the previous day, 139,952 patients were newly added to home treatment, bringing the total number of patients currently under home treatment to 671,703.


The preventive injection 'Evusheld,' administered to severely immunocompromised patients, has been reserved by 1,062 people so far, with 122 having completed the treatment.
