[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education plans to start the second semester academic schedule with full in-person classes at all schools regardless of the COVID-19 resurgence.
On the 10th, the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education held a video conference with 22 city and county superintendents presided over by Superintendent Kim Dae-jung in the situation room on the 5th floor of the government building and announced the "2022 Second Semester COVID-19 Prevention and Academic Operation Plan."
According to this plan, all schools will follow strict quarantine rules and conduct normal in-person classes in the second semester as they did in the first semester. However, if the COVID-19 infectious disease situation worsens, flexible academic operations at the class or grade level will be possible based on the criteria set by the Education Support Office and the schools themselves.
The second semester academic operation will be flexibly conducted in three types according to the COVID-19 situation, as in the first semester: ▲normal in-person classes ▲partial remote classes by grade (class) ▲full remote classes by school.
Under compliance with quarantine rules, curricular and extracurricular activities will proceed normally, and programs to address educational deficits and recovery such as ▲curriculum supplementation and private tutoring by university students ▲basic academic support ▲psychological and emotional healing will continue to be promoted.
In particular, to block and prevent the resurgence of COVID-19 on school sites, quarantine personnel and supplies will be expanded before school starts, and daily disinfection of frequently contacted areas will be strengthened after the semester begins.
Windows in classrooms and other areas will be kept open as a general rule, but if constant opening is difficult due to weather conditions, measures such as occasional opening and operation of ventilation devices will be taken.
Field experiential learning will be promoted with parental consent (70% consent rate for fewer than 100 people, 80% for 100 or more) and deliberation by the school operation committee, with thorough safety and quarantine inspections before and after the activities.
Superintendent Kim Dae-jung emphasized, "In the second semester, we plan to maintain full in-person classes while operating a thorough quarantine system to fully sustain students' educational activities. I hope the Education Support Offices will also support all schools to conduct even more rigorous quarantine before and after the semester starts so that students can continue uninterrupted learning in a safe educational environment and no learning deficits occur."
