Announcement of Regular Personnel Changes for 518 Education Officials on September 1

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Office of Education announced the regular personnel appointments for 518 educational public officials, including kindergarten, elementary, and secondary school principals, vice principals, and teachers, effective September 1, 2022.
On the 10th, Choi Byungheon, Director of the School Policy Bureau, stated, “This regular personnel appointment focused on enhancing future education policy capabilities and establishing field-centered support administration. We strived to assign talented individuals with abundant administrative experience and a high understanding of the region and field to support the operation of the second semester curriculum in a field-centered manner.”
He added, “To maintain policy continuity and broadly support schools centered on the curriculum, we transferred the Director of Future Education Bureau, who has been dedicated to completing a student-customized education system utilizing artificial intelligence and big data, to the position of Director of the School Policy Bureau.”
“We promoted the heads of education support offices to the Director of Future Education Bureau so that they can demonstrate high policy capabilities for the region and schools based on their understanding of the field,” he added.
According to the provincial office of education, the appointment of seven education directors was made in a direction to expand the appointment of principals and heads of support offices who have deep understanding of regional characteristics and issues as well as rich field experience.
Four heads of affiliated institutions and two department heads at the main office were also broadly appointed from education directors and principals who have experience leading schools and regional education, strengthening the field support capabilities of affiliated institutions and the main office.
Supervisors and education researchers at the main office, affiliated institutions, and education support offices were promoted mainly among education professionals whose practical implementation ability and work expertise have been verified to enhance professional policy capabilities.
The appointment of principals focused on strengthening response capabilities to the spread of infectious diseases and school operation centered on the curriculum, aiming to stabilize the education field.

▲ Education Support Office Directors: Jinju Education Director: Lee Osuk, Head of School Innovation Division at the main office ▲ Gimhae: Ahn Taehwan, Head of Creative Talent Division at the main office ▲ Miryang: Son Kyungsun, Principal of Miryang High School ▲ Geoje: Kim Jaehun, Principal of Yeoncho High School ▲ Uiryeong: Choi Misook, Director of Education Training Institute ▲ Geochang: Lee Myungju, Director at Changwon Office of Education ▲ Hapcheon Education Director: Park Geunsaeng, Principal of Sacheon Middle School were appointed.
Personnel appointments for managers at the principal and vice principal levels, including education professionals, involved 16 kindergarten principals, 157 elementary school principals, 81 secondary school principals, 16 kindergarten vice principals, 81 elementary vice principals, 82 secondary vice principals, 14 kindergarten teachers, and 71 elementary teachers, totaling 518 people who were promoted, transferred, reassigned, or newly appointed.
The certificate and personnel appointment notice ceremony is scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. on the 23rd at the Gonggam Hall annex of the provincial office of education.
Superintendent Park Jonghun said, “The coming future demands future competencies from our students that are based on the power of independence and coexistence to create new knowledge and values. Our task is to achieve educational recovery and complete the future education system based on stable curriculum operation to cultivate these competencies.”
He continued, “To complete the future education system at a higher level, we selected talented individuals with broad educational administrative experience to successfully promote major educational issues in Gyeongnam. We will overcome the ongoing crisis of infectious disease spread and ensure the learning and safety of children through flawless school quarantine and safe academic operations in the second semester,” he emphasized.
