Gwangju Buk-gu and Daegu Dalseo-gu Hold 'Youth Cultural Exchange' Event

From the 9th to the 10th, 60 Youths from Yeongnam and Honam Participate

Creating a Venue for Regional Harmony through Cultural Exploration and Fellowship Activities

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Gwangju Buk-gu announced on the 8th that it will hold the ‘Yeong-Honam Youth Cultural Exchange Event’ to foster harmony through cultural exploration and friendship activities with Daegu Dalseo-gu (District Mayor Lee Taehoon).

Marking its 25th year, this event will take place over two days from the 9th to the 10th, inviting youth from Dalseo-gu to Gwangju and having Buk-gu youth visit Daegu in a reciprocal exchange format, with 30 youths from each region participating, totaling 60 participants.

On the first day, the 9th, various programs will be conducted using an online platform in each region, including watching promotional videos of the regions, recreation, a Golden Bell quiz to correctly understand culture and history, making exchange gifts for Yeong-Honam youth, and career experience activities.

On the second day, the 10th, youth from both regions will hold a meeting event at Jirisan Rest Area, visit Buk-gu to receive a welcome greeting and souvenirs from District Mayor Moon In, then conclude the event with a tour of the Gwangju Kimchi Museum and a Namdo kimchi-making experience.

Mayor Moon In said, “I hope this cultural exchange event will be a valuable opportunity for Yeong-Honam youth to correctly view and understand each other’s history and culture,” adding, “We will continue to prepare various exchange events to foster harmony between regions.”

Meanwhile, Buk-gu has continuously carried out Yeong-Honam cultural exchange activities since establishing a sisterhood relationship with Daegu Dalseo-gu in 1989, and in 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, strengthened friendship by sending 5,000 masks to help prevent the spread.
