[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A current member of the Seoul Seocho District Council affiliated with the Democratic Party of Korea, who was caught driving under the influence in broad daylight in downtown Seoul, has been referred to the prosecution.
On the 8th, the Seoul Gwanak Police Station announced that it had sent current Seocho District Council member Mr. A to the prosecution without detention on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
Mr. A is accused of driving under the influence near Bongcheon Station in Gwanak District at around 3:05 p.m. on the 21st of last month while in a state of severe intoxication.
Mr. A was caught following a report from a nearby citizen. At the time of the arrest, Mr. A's blood alcohol concentration was reported to be above 0.1%, which is the level for license cancellation.
