Yeongam-gun Conducts 'Cognitive Activity Education for Elderly Dementia Prevention'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Yeongam County announced on the 8th that it will conduct ‘Cognitive Activity Education for Elderly Dementia Prevention’ at the Comprehensive Social Welfare Center to improve awareness and preventive management of dementia among the elderly population.

This education is aimed at high-risk groups for dementia onset and is conducted to provide various services such as cognitive, physical, and social activities.

To this end, from this month until October, two subjects including comprehensive crafts and laughter therapy will be operated twice a week for three months.

Yeongam County expects that the dementia prevention program will greatly help isolated elderly people prevent depression and improve cognitive function.

A Yeongam County official stated, “Through this program, the progression of early dementia is expected to be delayed, and through prior prevention, it will greatly contribute to enabling local seniors to enjoy a happy life at home and in the community.”
