[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Dongseo University and Actto recently signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement for joint design development and strengthening global competitiveness.

Under the agreement, Dongseo University’s College of Design and Actto will jointly develop the Next keyboard and mouse set series from product planning to development and mass production.

The university plans to carry out systematic industry-academia cooperation through Dongseo University LINC 3.0 Project Group’s customized AllSET program and the ‘4Co Corporate Support’.

The ‘4Co (Connection, Collaboration, Competitiveness, Co-prosperity) Corporate Support’ is a system for establishing a bilateral support ecosystem among industry, academia, and research institutes and operating systematic corporate support programs. It operates various programs tailored to the purpose and matches optimal programs for each company.

Actto is a domestic mobile computer peripheral manufacturer founded in 1992 as a venture company.

The company has been selected as the No. 1 Best Brand company for five consecutive years and is chosen annually for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s Good Design Award through continuous technology and design development.

In 2021, it won the Good Design Award for developing a retro-style keyboard new product and has received great responses in the Amazon and domestic and international keyboard markets.

Hwang Ki-hyun, head of the LINC 3.0 Project Group, said, “We will provide systematic support centered on the newly established CV Design ICC (Industry Collaboration Center) this year to strengthen the design competitiveness of various local companies through industry-academia-research linkage and to nurture new industry convergence designers.”

Actto CEO Ahn Jong-gyu said, “Through the industry-academia cooperation agreement, we provide students with opportunities to jointly design and develop products with companies that have a field sense, and companies receive opportunities to gain young and fresh diverse ideas from students, expecting good results by establishing a practical industry-academia cooperation model.”
