[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Lotte Tour Development announced on the 8th that the Jerajin Boys and Girls Choir, which sings in Jeju dialect, will hold a joint performance with the Dortmund Children's Orchestra at the Dortmund City History Museum in Germany on the 10th.
The Jerajin Boys and Girls Choir is a children's choir that sings Jeju culture and stories in the Jeju dialect. They have served as Jeju ambassadors at major events such as the 2018 Jeju 4·3 70th Anniversary Gwanghwamun National Cultural Festival and the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Government Celebration. On their first overseas visit, the Jerajin Boys and Girls Choir will participate not only in the joint performance but also in the August 15 Liberation Day commemorative performance held at the Erfurt City Hall Concert Hall, hosted by the Korean Cultural Center in Germany. They will also promote the Jeju dialect and Korean culture at the Berlin World Folk Culture Festival and on Bangeuroge Island.
Lotte Tour Development and the Jerajin Boys and Girls Choir have maintained a relationship for three years since Lotte Tour Development officially signed a sponsorship agreement after relocating its headquarters to Jeju in 2020. In November last year, the Jerajin Boys and Girls Choir, supported by Lotte Tour Development, established their own practice room called Jerajin Noremadang in Jocheon-eup, Jeju City.
Earlier, Lotte Tour Development, in collaboration with the Jeju Mecenat Association, sponsored the '2022 Jeju International Summer Dance School & Competition' held in July as part of the Jeju Cul Project. The Jeju International Summer Dance School has been operated since 2019 by the Jeju City Ballet and the Jeju branch of the Professional Dancer Support Center to provide high-quality educational opportunities and help improve skills for dance major students nationwide.
Since 2020, through the Jeju Cul Project, Lotte Tour Development has been striving to revitalize local culture and arts by supporting creative musicals in the Jeju area and sponsoring local art institutions.
Additionally, Lotte Tour Development signed an agreement in 2020 with Wisdom City, which operates the Jeju Human Renaissance Academy (HRA), to support career and employment education programs for local university students. In June, the first HRA graduate was employed at Dream Tower. The Dream Tower Dealer Academy (DDA), operated by Lotte Tour Development, is also becoming a gateway to employment.
Lotte Tour Development is conducting various social contribution activities, including the Seed Book Campaign, the Nohyeong-dong Sombok Sale project, support for elderly living alone, and hiring people with developmental disabilities.
