Derivation of 98 Pledges Including Local Government Direction and Major Policy Promotion Plans for the 8th Elected Term
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] The transition committee for the mayoral position of Jindo County in Jeollanam-do during the 8th local government term published a white paper on its activities and delivered it to Mayor Kim Hee-soo on the 5th.
The white paper contains a total of 259 pages covering the process of activities from the launch to the disbandment of the transition committee, the direction of county administration for the 8th local government term, meetings with social organizations by sector and function, policy directions for pledged projects, new policy proposals, and suggestions from residents.
The 8th local government term Jindo County mayoral transition committee consisted of 15 members across 4 divisions, deriving 98 pledged tasks in 6 areas to realize the county administration vision of “Residents as Owners, A Livable Jindo.”
It received favorable reviews for its proactive approach to getting closer to residents by holding dozens of internal meetings and on-site discussions to gather residents’ difficulties and suggestions.
Meetings were held with related organizations such as youth, farmers and fishermen, and small business owners to listen to the opinions of residents from all walks of life and to lay the groundwork for communication administration in the 8th local government term.
Based on various activities, the transition committee set the county administration vision for the 8th local government term as “Residents as Owners, A Livable Jindo” and selected five major administrative policies to concretize this vision: ▲Industries for Prosperity Together ▲Welfare for Everyone’s Happiness ▲Education to Nurture Talent ▲Tourism to Visit and Stay ▲Administration Serving Residents.
Chairman Park Jong-seok of the transition committee said, “I hope the various policy proposals and suggestions presented by the transition committee will help realize a Jindo where residents are owners and it is a livable place, and I look forward to a vibrant and successful 8th local government term administration of Jindo County.”
Mayor Kim Hee-soo of Jindo County said, “I thank the transition and advisory committee members for their efforts in excellently performing their duties despite the short period. With a heavy sense of responsibility, I plan to carefully review the white paper of the transition committee and reflect it in county administration, focusing administrative power so that Jindo County can leap forward as the best local government nationwide.”
Jindo County will disclose the transition committee’s activity white paper to residents through the Jindo County website, and the pledges and proposals organized by the transition committee will be utilized by each department in establishing work plans.
Meanwhile, after the June 1 local elections, the mayoral transition committee composed of 15 experts from various fields conducted activities for 30 days, including departmental major work report meetings and on-site visits to major project sites.
